Who we are
Hi, we’re Jessica and Jon — the husband-and-wife team behind Mission First Design.
Mission First Design (MFD) began as a small spark during Jon’s first deployment in 2021. I (Jessica) have always loved art and earned my BFA in Graphic Design from Liberty University, but Jon actually discovered his own love for drawing while he was overseas. What started as something that helped us stay connected through a tough season eventually grew into a shared creative mission.
MFD is a military spouse–owned business that exists because of three core beliefs that shape our life and our work: Faith, Family, and Freedom.
Our logo reflects those three pillars surrounding an M for our mission — to create meaningful, purposeful art that strengthens homes, encourages hearts, and honors the people who serve.
Over time, we realized that our artistic styles are very different and our passions fall into three distinct areas. So we built MFD around three branches that reflect the “3 F’s” in our logo:
FAMILY — Jessica’s Branch
As an elementary art teacher and the owner of MFD, this is where I invest most of my time.
The Family branch is focused on:
High-quality art education resources
Directed drawing lessons
Creative learning materials for teachers and parents
Digital products for kids and classrooms
A Creative Kids Craft Club — launching soon!
Realistic portrait commissions
Graphic novel and illustration services
My heart is to make creativity accessible, joyful, and purposeful for families and schools.
FREEDOM — Jon’s Branch
Jon brings strength, insight, and authenticity to this branch.
Because of his military background and ability to relate to service members and first responders, Freedom is dedicated to:
Military and First Responder morale apparel
Meaningful designs inspired by service, sacrifice, and camaraderie
Apparel and merchandise that carry a message of honor
This branch is currently in development and will launch as its own website soon.
FAITH — Our Shared Branch
The Faith branch will be a collaboration between both of us.
Our goal is to create resources that encourage spiritual growth and point people toward Christ.
Future offerings will include:
Devotionals
Faith-based apparel
Sunday School lessons and creative teaching materials
Inspirational art and printables
This branch will also become its own site when it launches next year.
